Rory Beard

Rory Beard is an [unprofessional] artist with a multi-disciplinary practise that often uses humour and self-reflexivity to explore a wide variety of often personal themes.

[The practise has become a testing ground for art and societal structures, parodying successful modes on a small scale way to highlight much larger systemic problems.]

Beard’s tongue-in-cheek practise draws heavily on appropriation, blagging as a strategy, the family and actors in the quest to build a role of a meta double Rory Beard artist impersonator.

More recently the practise has been analysing the absurd side of the art system [using the art system as a mirror to global systems], asking questions about authorship and labor. Whilst seemingly introspective, the practise uses inward facing methodologies to highlight wider issues like class and privilege.
