Property of Mother India
Dual-video projections of nationalist dialogue referencing 'Mother India', adjacent to hyper-feminized cinematic reactions of Indian Women.
5 minutes (looped)
In nationalist discourse, women are perceived as passive symbols of different totalities. The deification of women is problematic as it places them on pedestals and denies them their humanity. This piece focuses on the way in which nationalism intersects with the construction of perceived gender roles and works to sustain gender inequalities.
