The Nuclear Culture Research Group is an interdisciplinary group of artists, curators and scholars in the nuclear arts and humanities within and connected through Goldsmiths College, University of London and The Arts Catalyst. The group is part of the Nuclear Culture research project to develop artistic and curatorial enquiry into nuclear culture in the UK and internationally led by Ele Carpenter. The group meets twice a year to share research, organize events and fieldwork. Visiting artists and scholars are always welcome. From 2016 to 2018 members of the group regularly met at the Nuclear Culture Roundtables which took place alongside the Perpetual Uncertainty exhibition in Umea and Malmo in Sweden, and Brussels and Hasselt in Belgium. In 2018 curator Warren Harper and artist Bridget Kennedy are joining the group to undertake practice based research for a PhD at Goldsmiths.
Research processes include field research to nuclear sites, a sporadic reading group and roundtable discussions. Research outcomes include artworks, exhibitions and publications.
The next NCRG meeting will take place as part of the Nuclear Culture Research Day at Goldsmiths on Friday 30th November, 2018.
